PRODUCTS
Home Furnishings. Handmade reproductions of traditional Windsor furniture. Windsor Chairs including bow back, oval-back, sack back arm, and continuous arm chairs. Windsor Settees including double bow sack back and continuous arm settees. Windsor Stools including four different heights ranging from 12 inches to 36 inches. Available in milk-painted or oil finish.
Home Decor. Handmade wood turnings.
Services. Available as an instructor for a wide range of handmade woodworking classes as well as a demonstrator at exhibitions, festivals, and similar events.
Local Materials. All products are produced from local, native species.
Distribution. Local, regional and national. Retial and wholesale.
CERTIFICATIONS
True North Woods. I offer certified furniture produced from materials harvested from the sustainably managed forests of northern Minnesota. I typically use wind-fall white pine, personally harvested birch, and ash that are either personally harvested or purchased from local loggers and sawmills.
FSC. Certification Code SCS-COC-002432G. The supplier is a member of the True North Certified Forest Products Network.
HISTORY
John Beltman is a master woodworker who has been building Windsor Chairs since 1994. Previously, he built wood canvas canoes, having trained as a boatbuilder at the Rockport Apprentice Shop in Rockport, ME in 1981. He prefers working with hand tools, including the spring-pole lathe, and specializes in traditional building techniques. Beltman teaches a variety of woodworking classes at North House Folk School in Grand Marais, MN. He is a featured demonstrator at 18th century fairs, among other venues.
